Is Iowa Ready for Real Whitewater?
REP and local representatives from Prairie Rapids Paddlers organization (Ty Graham and Steve Weliver) have been conducting product testing on three structures built at the Charles City Whitewater Park. According to Ty and Steve, all three features have merit and our findings suggest the waves will create a variety of glassy waves, crashing waves, soft foam piles, and dynamic whitewater features. The project contains industry leading fish passage technology designed to “open up” additional portions of the river for piscatorial use.
The contractor is completing upland, restoration, and fish habitat portions of the project at this time.
